Usually it is the players who get into “tussles” with each other at football practice or during training camp. Apparently the strain of a long off-season may have gotten to one famous parent at UCLA, however.
Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested by the UCLA Campus Police Monday afternoon after a reported altercation with an unnamed assistant football coach. Diddy’s son, Justin Combs is a reserve defensive back and special teams player. The 5’7″ redshirt junior appeared in a total of seven games over two season in Westwood, primarily playing on special teams.
According to multiple media outlets, the younger Combs was being yelled at by one of the assistant coaches at the football facilities. There are no reliable reports as to the content of the yelling. Once inside, Sean “Diddy” Combs reportedly started yelling at the coach and as things escalated, the confrontation became physical. As of this afternoon, Sean Combs is being with assault with a deadly weapon. According to published reports he is alleged to have swung a kettlebell at the assistant coach in the weight room.
UCLA athletic department officials have confirmed that Sean Combs was arrested and as of 4pm PDT he was still in the campus jail. The UCLA Director of Media Relations said the school would not discuss the matter publicly until more details were available. The UCLA police department has declined to provide any details other than to confirm that Sean Combs is presently in custody.
