In the past few weeks, Huset’s Speedway has been bought by an entrepreneur, Chuck Brennan, and from that sale has arisen some big news.
Brennan first announced that Huset’s Speedway’s name will be changed to Badlands Motor Speedway.
That means, changing a name of a 60 year old track that means a built and worked on buy one man, Til Huset. He had made the race track next to the hills on his land which worked for fans that could sit up on the hill and watch.
As one might imagine, eliminating the tradition of that name will not suit well with some fans.
Brennan also announced that he would bring a whopping $5 million in renovations and upgrades to grandstands and other parts of the track.
He plans on adding concerts, entertainment, as well as a large purse to try and attract Midwest drivers to Huset’s, or Badlands, for weekly racing.
“When I get done with this place,” Brennan said. “It’s going to crush anything (Knoxville Raceway) has ever done.”
Knoxville, especially in the past few weeks, has attracted World of Outlaws drivers during weekly competitions due to rain outs on the national circuit, they feature the National Sprint Car Hall of Fame outside the track, and have all this tradition tied down to one track.
Brian Brown, a Knoxville Regular tweeted this when asked about his though on running Huset’s on Saturday Nights next year.
It's the dumbest thing I've heard in a long time. https://t.co/7LTWj0hvaZ

Brown would follow up saying he did not think their would be enough cars to make it competitive.
This would mean the guys “practicing” Knoxville every week leading up to the mega-pursed Knoxville Nationals would not get that practice. Is it really worth giving up a chance at the cash?

I am all for the sport adding more racing, spreading across the country, and renovating tracks; but trying to take down Knoxville in order to do that will not be an easy task. This could implode, and in a hurry.
