RANK TEAM COMMENTS Last 6 Previous Change
1

Seattle Sounders FC

Seattle dominated FC Dallas and earns the top spot. Seattle has been nearly flawless of late and the return to form of Obafami Martins will only make them stronger. 4-1-1 2 +1
2

Sporting Kansas City

Sporting enjoyed their week off and fell to number by virtue of the rest. Expect them to stay in the top 5 for a while. 4-0-2 1 -1
3

New England Revolution

Revs win over Chicago was dominant, but it was also their first in 7 games. Is this the an about-face of their recent form or an anomaly? 1-2-4 6 +3
4

Toronto FC

Toronto is tied for second in PPG in the last 6 with Seattle. Hard to argue their place in the top 5 and could be even higher. 4-1-1 4 0
5

Vancouver Whitecaps FC

Vancouver hasn’t been as steady as their Cascadia rivals, but they remain a strong team even with those recent stumbles. 3-3-0 3 -2
6

Orlando City SC

Orlando is just about as hot as anyone else in MLS. Few should be surprised their run of form coincides with Ribeiro’s return from injury. Kaka showing he isn’t ready to retire quite yet. 3-1-2 11 +5
7

DC United

Back to back losses might be enough to dampen the mood in the capital, but DC has yet to be played off the field this year since their week 2 loss. They remain in front of the East but their lead is getting shorter. 2-3-1 5 -2
8

Montreal Impact

Montreal came back down to earth with an embarrassing loss to NYCFC. Can they shake it off and keep up their winning form of late? 4-2-0 10 +2
9

Houston Dynamo

Houston’s drop is another example of a team not benefiting from the week off. Their win over the Red Bulls was dominant, but given NY’s recent form, it might not be anything to brag about. 3-2-1 8 -1
10

Philadelphia Union

Just like Houston, their drop has more to do with the rest of the league then it does their form. Still, the last time they played they lost to City, so it is still anyone’s guess. 3-3-0 7 -3
11

San Jose Earthquakes

San Jose moved up, thanks to some other teams falling hard. Still need consistency to crack the top 10 though. 2-1-3 12 +1
12

Portland Timbers

Portland should be further up this list. If they keep up their recent form, they will be soon enough. 4-2-0 18 +6
13

LA Galaxy

The Galaxy continue to disappoint, but their wait for their Liverpudlian Messiah is nearly over now. Sebastian Lletget showed well in his debut with a sweet finish. 2-2-2 17 +4
14

FC Dallas

This is the Dallas we all know. What happens to them in the middle of the season every year? Is it the heat? A few weeks ago, a matchup between Dallas and the Red Bulls seemed like must see TV. Now? Not so much. 1-3-2 9 -5
15

New York City FC

City has back to back wins, call the paper! In all seriousness, their rough stretch might be over. Tommy McNamara tilted the field against Montreal and might be the answer to balance the team. 2-2-2 20 +5
16

Real Salt Lake

Salt Lake’s fortunes of late read like the poem Ozymandias. Their squad is in serious need of reinforcements. 2-3-1 15 -1
17

Colorado Rapids

Colorado moved up thanks to two teams plummeting down the list. Their recent form is nothing to write home about. 1-2-3 19 +2
18

Chicago Fire

Chicago and the Red Bulls have something in common. Each has lost their last three games. The loss to New England made them look somewhat toothless. Last week’s home collapse against Orlando was nothing short of disaster. A lot to figure out in Chi-town. 1-3-2 14 -4
19

Columbus Crew SC

Columbus have gone winless in six and have just one win in their last 8. Something isn’t right and the long summer won’t be kind unless they figure it out. 0-3-3 13 -6
20

New York Red Bulls

The Red Bulls haven’t played all that poorly, but that can’t seem to buy results right now. Rumors and rumblings about player acquisitions are all that is keeping their fanbase from exploding right now. They need a big statement win over Vancouver to regain some confidence. 1-4-1 16 -4
