(Pittsburgh, PA June 6, 2015) – In a lackluster game, Saint Louis FC managed a 1-1 draw against the Pittsburgh Riverhounds at Highmark Stadium last Saturday.
Saint Louis FC is now 3-3-4 (13 points) and Pittsburgh is 4-3-4 (16 points) in the USL Easter Conference. Pittsburgh occupies the fifth and second to last playoff spot. Saint Louis FC sits just outside the playoffs.
Saint Louis FC Scrap Another Road Point
The road side lost both the possession and chance creation battle, but the defense held strong. “What an incredibly gutsy performance from the guys. They endured extremely difficult travel situations yesterday. The point we earned was done on will, fortitude and a selfless commitment to their teammates,” said Head Coach Dale Schilly after the match.
Stephen Okai drew a penalty in the 72nd minute on Chad Vandergriffe with a cross coming into the box. Rob Vincent converted the penalty kick, despite the first kick getting getting canceled out by encroachment.
Just eight minutes later, a Mike Ambersley cross into the box found Jermie Lynch, who finished the chance off. With the score tied 1-1, Saint Louis FC woke up with several chances created from the run of play and on set pieces.
The match finished with Pittsburgh outshooting their opponents 12-10. Goalkeepers Mark Pais and Ryan Hulings finished with five and two saves, respectively.

It is the second 1-1 tie between Saint Louis FC and the Pittsburgh Riverhounds this season.
Saint Louis FC resume play on Saturday, June 13th as they host the Harrisburg City Islanders at Marshall Wireless Stadium. Kickoff is set for 7:30 PM CST.
