LWOS WEEK 10 TWO START PITCHERS TO STREAM
Lance McCullers, SP, Houston Astros, Yahoo! Availability 51%
Probable Starts: 6/8 @ Chicago White Sox; 6/14 vs. Seattle
How Lance McCullers is only owned in 49% of Yahoo! Leagues is a question that I do not know the answer to. He has been dominant since getting called up from Triple A Fresno and needs to be owned in every fantasy league. In his last start against the Orioles on June 3rd, McCullers went nine innings, allowing only one run and striking out 11 batters. Not to mention he didn’t walk anyone either. McCullers has allowed two runs or less in each of his four starts this season, leading to a phenomenal ERA of 1.88 and WHIP of 1.00. He has two good matchups this week in the White Sox and Mariners so more good performances could be in store. The bottom line is that Lance McCullers is one of the hottest pitchers in the league and he should be picked up off the waiver wire and started in all leagues.
Mike Bolsinger, SP, Los Angeles Dodgers, Yahoo! Availability 55%
Probable Starts: 6/8 vs Arizona; 6/14 @ San Diego
Mike Bolsinger can be placed in the same category as Lance McCullers as pitchers who are dominating right now. Bolsinger doesn’t have the upside or strikeout potential that Lance McCullers does, but has been very effective for the Dodgers this season. Bolsinger has registered a 1.98 ERA over six starts this season and has a quality start in five of them. This week Bolsinger will matchup against the Diamondbacks and Padres. The Diamondbacks matchup is a tough one, but their offense has struck out the eighth most times against right-handed pitchers this season, giving Bolsinger some potential for a good start. Next he will face a Padres team that he has had success against in the past. On May 23rd of this season, Bolsinger went eight innings and allowed only one hit, including eight strikeouts against San Diego. Expect two more solid starts from Bolsinger this week and start him with confidence.
Mike Leake, SP, Cincinnati Reds, Yahoo! Availability 69%
Probable Starts: 6/8 vs Philadelphia; 6/13 @ Chicago Cubs
Mike Leake has been very inconsistent this season, hence his 4.40 ERA, however he should be in for a solid week and should be picked up in deeper leagues. Leake is a very streaky pitcher (3.03 ERA in April, 6.75 in May, and 2.25 in June) but has shown flashes of dominance. In his last start against the Phillies, who he will coincidentally face again this week, Leake had a no-hitter through six innings and had a final line of 8 IP, 2 ER, 9 K, 2 BB. Leake has also had success against the Cubs this season, going seven innings with three earned runs and striking out nine on April 24. Pickup Leake and start him because of his two good matchups this week.
