The Saskatchewan Roughriders have signed linebacker Akwasi Antwi just prior to the start of training camp. 2015 marks his fourth season in the CFL. He was drafted by the Calgary Stampeders, and also spent time in Toronto and B.C. Released earlier this offseason by the Lions, Antwi becomes the fifth national linebacker to be invited to training camp with the Roughriders.
The other national linebackers are Shea Emry, Kevin Régimbald, Ryan Wellman, and Joash Gesse. Expect to see safety Keenan McDougall line up at linebacker at times as well.
In 2014, Antwi finished sixth in CFL special teams tackles with 21 as a member of the Lions. Along with national defensive backs Paul Woldu and Keenan McDougall, todays addition should give the Riders excellent coverage on both punts and kickoffs.
The following press release is provided by the Saskatchewan Roughriders and the Canadian Football League.

The Mount Allison product spent his first two seasons with the Stamps before being traded to the Toronto Argonauts where he didn’t see any game action during the 2013 season.
Last year, the 30-year-old Toronto native played 18 regular season games with the B.C. Lions, after signing as a free agent in February, 2014, where he finished sixth in the league with 21 special teams tackles.
