MLS Pick ‘Em 2015: Week 12 – LA Galaxy v. Houston Dynamo
Last week saw the Philadelphia Union undermine all of the experts except Michael Norton, the one brave soul who picked the Union to earn a result against the East’s top team. As Michael claws his way up the standings, Russ McKenzie remains atop of the group. Here are the updated standings:
Player | Points | Correct Outcome | Correct Score | Incorrect |
Russ McKenzie | 10 | 6 | 2 | 6 |
Jeff Krause | 9 | 7 | 1 | 5 |
Eric Walcott | 7 | 7 | 0 | 5 |
Alec Rivera | 6 | 4 | 1 | 8 |
Ned Joyce | 5 | 3 | 1 | 9 |
Michael Norton | 3 | 3 | 0 | 9 |
John Richan | 2 | 2 | 0 | 10 |
Joseph Goldstein | 2 | 2 | 0 | 10 |
This week, the LA Galaxy return home still reeling from their weekend loss to expansion Orlando City SC. Actually, that might be a bit generous as they were really walloped in the match. In fact, LA has but a single win in their last six, that result coming against Sporting Kansas City. To be fair to the Galaxy, they have been without Robbie Keane for what seems like forever now, and are still trying to figure out their central midfield while they wait for a certain Liverpudlian to show up in Carson. Houston by contrast is rolling right now after back to back wins. Giles Barnes and Will Bruin look like they are just getting started, and that could be scary for all of the Western Conference. If they can keep scoring like this without Erick Torres, they could be absolutely lethal when he arrives in July. Will Houston be able to keep it up on the road, or will LA feast on home cooking? Let’s see what the experts say:
Expert | Pick | Comments |
Joseph Goldstein
|
LA (1-0) | Houston will struggle again on the road. LA will bounce back after the huge misstep in Orlando. |
Eric Walcott
|
LA (2-1) | Houston is the team in form, but Houston is also bad on the road. LA will be desperate for a result after last week’s disaster against Orlando. |
Alec Rivera | HOU (2-1) | Houston are getting results anywhere and everywhere this season, and the Galaxy’s home winning streak is bound to end eventually. With their “come at me bro” attitude and a swift counterattack, Houston will dispose of an LA side desperate for answers. |
Jeff Krause
|
LA (2-1) | Even when struggling, LA is dangerous at home, and Houston have yet to prove they can win against a tough opponent. |
Russ McKenzie | LA (1-0) | Despite several weeks of really poor play and Husidic playing RB, LA guts out a win with some home cooking. Turns out there really is no place like home. |
John Richan
|
LA (2-1) | LA had a rough outing last weekend but will bounce back against the Dynamo at home. MLS parity rides again. |
Michael Norton
|
DRAW (2-2) | If you live in Los Angeles, I’d suggest you call your doctor, cancel your appointments, and tell them to find Robbie Keane and get him healthy again. Even with Omar Gonzalez back, this side badly needs Keane’s game-breaking offensive skill. |
Ned Joyce | HOU (2-1) | LA is reeling and houston is rolling. Bad time for them to meet. Bruce gets angry and throws a fit….again |
