2015 Monaco Grand Prix Manor Preview

Arriving at the scene of that wonderful moment where Jules Bianchi claimed his and Marussia’s first ever points in Formula One are the Manor team. With an unchanged line-up, a highly unpredictable race could well pave the way for a shock result once again, although this will be highly unlikely considering the performance deficit to the cars in front. However, should a large number of teams and drivers be caught unaware during the race, both Will Stevens and Roberto Merhi must keep on their toes to try and make some progress through the field.

2015 Monaco Grand Prix Manor Preview

No. 28 Will Stevens
2015 Form: -/-/15/16/17

Stevens was solid if unspectacular at Monaco during his time in Formula Renault 3.5, with a seventh place being his best result. Once again, he trounced Merhi at the Spanish Grand Prix, and he will be hoping to do so again here. It has been a strong run from the British driver in his maiden full season so far.

No. 98 Roberto Merhi
2015 Form: -/15/16/17/18

Merhi will indeed be running in the second Manor this weekend as Alex Fontana will race in his place at Pons Racing in Formula Renault 3.5. When asked about the performance deficit to his team mate, Merhi explained that his weight and size compared to Stevens was a major factor. Stevens is the smallest and lightest driver on the grid, whilst Merhi is one of the heaviest. The Manor is not light due to how rushed it was as well, and these may well explain at least some of the deficit. I don’t think that this can take anything away from Stevens though, who has been doing a really solid job all season. It does seem that Manor are happy enough with Merhi so far though.
