From the Team Canada BBQ website:
The team’s objective is to represent Canada and Canadian stakeholders by providing a platform to showcase Canadian heritage, culture and our abilities at both national and international competition. Utilizing the benefits of the growing competitive food environment, members achieve award winning results, demonstrating Canada can garner top results on the international podium, and installing Canadian pride.
The team initiates and stimulate awareness of both Canadian product and our culture working closely with the Canadian Consulate’s Trade Commissioners. We provide the catalysis to introduce our partners to the world of competitive cooking while promoting our mandate.
In November of 2013 The Consul General of Canada for the Southeastern United States, Stephen Brereton, provided Mike Callaghan and Shawn Danko with a mandate to form Team Canada BBQ. The team was immediately incorporated as a Federal Not for Profit and has created a bilingual program to provide services to our stakeholders in both official languages. While our program is situated in London Ontario, our team members are represented across Canada including our media program that is developed in Quebec City, Quebec.
