2015 Spanish Grand Prix Manor Preview: “Our Season Starts Here”

This is the event where the Manor team are to really get going. Whilst their 2015 car is not due to be unveiled until August, the team are adamant that they will be more competitive than at recent events. With preparation for the first four rounds somewhat rushed due to the eleventh-hour rescue deal put in place, it could be argued that there are no excuses now for the Manor team as they look to try and close in on the tail-end of the midfield, consisting of the struggling Force India and McLaren teams.

2015 Spanish Grand Prix Manor Preview

No. 28 Will Stevens
2015 Form: -/-/15/16

Stevens last raced at Barcelona in 2013, taking two podiums from the two races in Formula Renault 3.5. He also scored in both races in 2012, making it one of his stronger circuits historically. He has (surprisingly, for me anyway) wiped the floor with Roberto Merhi so far this year, and doing so as frequently as he has done will justify him staying in Formula One for longer.

No. 98 Roberto Merhi
2015 Form: -/15/16/17

Merhi has not raced at the Catalunya circuit since he drove in the Formula 3 Euro Series there back in 2009. Whilst he has had success at his home country in the past, it has been at the Valencia circuits (the purpose-built circuit as well as the street circuit) as opposed to the open Catalunya track. After a tough time at Motorland Aragon in Formula Renault a few weeks back, can he get his year back on track at his home Grand Prix?
