2015 Monaco ePrix Preview

For the first time, Formula E heads to a circuit which is currently used by Formula 1, Formula Renault and GP2. The historic Monte Carlo street circuit has hosted many brilliant races in the past, but for the first time it will host an all-electric race. Over half way into the 11-race season, it is clear as to who has the upper hand in terms of the championship and in the intra-team battles.

2015 Monaco ePrix Preview

Six different drivers from five different teams have won the first six races in Formula E, with the clear man on form Nelson Piquet taking the most recent of these wins last time out at Long Beach. As the only driver to have finished in the top five in each of the last four rounds, Piquet has rocketed up the championship standings in recent rounds.

The Monaco circuit which will be used will differ from the one used for F1. As oppose to going up the hill through Beau Rivage, the Formula E cars will take to a side street after Saint Devote. They will rejoin the F1 track at the Nouvelle Chicane, which will become a hairpin for the Formula E cars. The final part of the track will be the rest of the Monaco circuit we all know and love, right from Tabac all the way to Anthony Noghes.

Leading the championship is Lucas di Grassi by just one point from Piquet. Nicolas Prost is just six points behind di Grassi. It is worth noting that for the second race running there will be no driver changes prior to this event.
