Some major injury news for the San Jose Earthquakes as they will lose designated player and star forward Innocent Emeghara for the next four to six months due to his recent knee injury. The Swiss international player is in his first season with San Jose, after becoming the club’s third designated player when he signed a contract in January.
It is believed that Emeghara suffered the injury during the Earthquakes 1-1 draw with Real Salt Lake in MLS regular season play on May 1st, 2015.

San Jose Earthquakes Forward Innocent Emeghara Undergoes Successful Knee Surgery
SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes forward Innocent Emeghara underwent successful surgery on Wednesday morning to repair a torn meniscus in his left knee suffered in the team’s match against Real Salt Lake on May 1. The procedure was performed at Stanford Hospital by Dr. Zack Vaughn and is expected to sideline the forward for four to six months.
Innocent appeared in seven of the team’s first eight matches this season, making six starts, and scoring the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week for his strike against Seattle in Week 2. The Swiss international signed with the Quakes on Jan. 31.
