MLS Pick ‘Em 2015: Week 10 – Sporting Kansas City v. Chicago Fire

MLS Pick ‘Em 2015: Week 10 – Sporting Kansas City v. Chicago Fire

Well after the bonus round, and almost all of the editors predicting a Montreal victory, we finally have some separation at the top. Russ now has a 3-point lead over Jeff, and I have continued my spiral down into oblivion. Time to stop picking the underdogs! Here’s what the standings look like now:

Player Points Correct Outcome Correct Score Incorrect
Russ McKenzie 9 5 2 5
Jeff Krause 6 6 0 4
Eric Walcott 5 5 0 5
Ned Joyce 5 3 1 7
Alec Rivera 5 3 1 7
Michael Norton 2 2 0 8
John Richan 2 2 0 8
Joseph Goldstein 1 1 0 9

This week’s match features Sporting Kansas City and Chicago Fire. Fire have put together some impressive performances as of late, and SKC completed a great come back last week in Houston. David Accam is looking like the young DP striker the Fire have always yearned for, while Benny Feilheiber is enjoying a tremendous run of form to start the season. Will these old rivals put on a show, or will either team look like overachievers? Let’s see what the experts say:

Expert Pick Comments
Joseph Goldstein,Analyst,@LastWord_JG  (0-0) DRAW SKC and Chicago will probe all afternoon, but neither side gives in. Game ends scoreless.
Eric WalcottStaff Writer@ericwalcott  SKC (2-1) Sporting’s defensive struggles without Opara showed last week in their 4-4 draw and Chicago has been playing a bit better as of late. That said, SKC is still a good team and I’m not convinced by the Fire.
Alec RiveraDepartment Head@LWOSAlec  SKC (3-2) Sporting can’t seem to do anything the easy way this season, sitting just above the red line in their return to the Western Conference. Chicago, while playing much better than in weeks 1-3, still has a ways to go before I’m comfortable that their run of form is the real deal. Dwyer and Feilhaber combine for a goal and assist each. Captain them in #MLSFantasy
Jeff KrauseEditor@DFBJeff  (2-2) DRAW Both teams have potent offensive threats, but also have back lines trying to figure things out. Advantage based on recent run of form has to go to Chicago, but you can never discount SKC’s ability to come back, ugly if necessary.
Russ McKenzieDepartment Head@Russ_McKenzie  SKC (2-0) Despite the recent form of David Accam and Chicago Fire, I’m still not sold that the Fire are for real. Sporting KC will be looking to redeem themselves after letting in 4 goals on the weekend. Dwyer gets a brace.
John RichanStaff Writer@John_Richan (1-1) DRAW Two teams going in opposite directions at the moment, however this will balance out this weekend. Both teams will focus on defending – statement.
Ned JoyceContributor@nedjoyce  CHI (3-1) Chicago makes a statement against a team that has been bleeding goals lately. Last minute heroics won’t save SKC this time. Boom.
