MLS Pick ‘Em 2015: Week 7 – Philadelphia Union v. New England Revolution

MLS Pick ‘Em 2015: Week 7 – Philadelphia Union v. New England Revolution

Last week, LA Galaxy sealed a victory at home with strong defending and a goal from Alan Gordon. While it did not impact the standings much, it did allow all but one of our experts to finally pick up a point (Sorry John!). Here are the updated standings. As you can see, we now have a 3-way tie for the top, but Jeff gets the edge for the number of correct outcomes.

Player Points Correct Outcome Correct Score Incorrect
Jeff Krause 4 4 0 3
Russ McKenzie 4 2 1 5
Ned Joyce 4 2 1 5
Eric Walcott 3 3 0 4
Joseph Goldstein 1 1 0 6
Alec Rivera 1 1 0 6
Michael Norton 1 1 0 6
John Richan 0 0 0 7

This week, the Philadelphia Union play the New England Revolution. The Union broke a three game skid with a win last weekend followed by a hard fought draw against NYCFC on Thursday night. They return home to face a New England team that is starting to find its form after a rough start. Though the scales would be tipped in the Union’s favor as the home team, the last two matches between these I-95 rivals saw the home teams lose. Let’s see what our experts say:

Expert Pick Comments
Joseph GoldsteinAnalyst@LastWord_JG   PHI (2-1) I don’t think the Revs will be shutout, but the Union are a better attacking team then they have displayed so far. Were a bit unlucky to draw NYC during the week.
Eric WalcottStaff Writer@ericwalcott  NE (2-0) Swagudelo stays hot after his goal against Mexico and the Revs take advantage of a tired Union team from their midweek game.
Alec RiveraDepartment Head@LWOSAlec  NE (2-1) New England will start to come alive over the next couple weeks as the team begins to rebuild their chemistry. Philadelphia will get a consolation goal after going down 2-0.
Jeff KrauseEditor@DFBJeff  NE 3-0 New England and Philly are heading in different directions, and with Aristeguieta questionable, Philly don’t stand a chance against Lee Nguyen and the power of Kelyn Rowe’s man-bun.
Russ McKenzieDepartment Head@Russ_McKenzie  NE (2-1) It just doesn’t get any easier in Philly with Agudelo scoring a brace.
John RichanStaff Writer@John_Richan  NE (2-0) New England is finally hitting their stride while Philly is still trying to “find themselves”. The Union won’t be able to knock the Revs’ train off the tracks this weekend.
Michael NortonEditor@MichaelNorton95  Draw (1-1) Don’t expet Philly to score two goals a game regularly. They’ll get one in the first 45, but the DGW fatigue/bench rotation will catch them by the final whistle. I’m liking Teal Bunbury’s chances for a goal.
Ned JoyceContributor@nedjoyce  NE (3-1) Revs come alive with Agudelo getting his swag back. MVP form Nguyen makes a sighting.
