The following is a press release from Columbus Crew SC Communications.
COLUMBUS – In conjunction with U.S. Soccer, Columbus Crew SC today announced that midfielder Romain Gall has earned a call-up to the United States’ Under-20 National Team camp in Linz, Austria.
The camp comes ahead of the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup, which the United States qualified for at the 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship. During the upcoming camp, the U-20s are slated to play friendlies against the Qatar U-20s on April 21 and the Croatia U-20s on April 25. Both matches are set to be held at Red Bull Arena in Wals-Siezenheim, Austria.
Including Gall, 11 of the 20 players earning a call-up were part of the side that competed at the 2015 CONCACAF U-20 Championship, where the Crew SC midfielder won the Golden Boot after tying for the tournament lead with five goals. With those five tallies, Gall is also the overall leading United States U-20 goal scorer for the year.
Gall has earned 14 total caps for the U-20s, tied with John Requejo and Tommy Thompson among all players called-up for the most career appearances.
The 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup is in New Zealand and kicks-off for the United States on May 30, when the Stars and Stripes meet Myanmar.
