Michael Crabtree Signs with Oakland
Michael Crabtree was the 10th overall draft pick in 2009, and was viewed by many to be a reach at the time. That being said, Crabtree has been consistently under utilized by the San Francisco 49ers up and down offense. He has great hands, runs crisp routes and can burn it up the sidelines. On that note, he is of average size for a receiver at 6’1″ and he plays that way physically. He has a problem playing the high point of the pass and can be overshadowed by physical corners like Richard Sherman.
Crabtree has the talent to be great outside of the very defensively sound NFC West. He has the ability to put up number one receiver figures in an offense but has only had one season with over a thousand yards receiving. This came in 2012, when he scored 9 touchdowns and helped the 49ers reach the Super Bowl. Crabtree also missed most of the 2013 season after undergoing surgery on a torn Achilles tendon in May of that year and only featured in five games that year.
Last season Crabtree had 68 receptions for 698 yards and 4 touchdowns.
