Football 2 Futbol: 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs Preview, MLS Week 6 Review

Editor’s Note: This all encompassing sports podcast mostly discusses American Football, College Football, and North American Soccer, but it also delves into NBA Basketball, MLB Baseball, Hockey and anything else the guys can think to talk about. This smart show will give listeners all the sports talk they need.

We spend the first 73 minutes of the podcast, on the ice, as Sean, Gary, and Matt are joined by Dave Gove, who is the co-host of the Last Word on Sports Hockey podcast “On the Powerplay.” That being said, everyone is gathered to do a 2015 Stanley Cup Playoffs Preview, where we breakdown all of the first round match-ups and give our predictions for all of the series. Then we will continue through our brackets until we get to the Stanley Cup finals and crown a champion. We also look back at the season that just ended as well.

Then for the rest of the time remaining in the podcast, Sean and Matt stick around to discuss the weekend of games in a MLS Week 6 in review. Starting with the whack that FC Dallas took against the Colorado Rapids and ending with LA Galaxy’s ugly victory against Seattle Sounders. The guys also discuss Montreal signing Kenny Cooper and how that could help them for the CCL Finals, players and coaches going into the Hall of Fame while still active, and we discuss the US Men’s roster that was named to face Mexico on April 15.

Sean Garmer: is a crazy mix of Arkansas, Venezuela, and Texas all rolled into one. He studied Journalism at the University of North Texas and hopes to one day be able to return to finish his degree. Having been born in Arkansas, his favorite college team is the Arkansas Razorbacks, but all of his professional loves come from the DFW area, where he spent 20 years of his life. Sean’s first love is soccer, which began from having an entire latino side of the family that watched the sport. It then grew into him playing soccer all the way into high school and college. He was also able to do color commentary for the University of North Texas Women’s soccer team as well. He then transitioned that into several writing gigs on various websites, including being paid to cover every game in several World Cups. Sean is an avid FC Dallas supporter and has grown to love MLS above all other soccer leagues. His second sport is a tie between American Football and Basketball. Where Sean is a diehard Cowboys and Mavericks fan respectively, but also tries to keep up with other sports as much as he can.

Matt Pollard: is a Chemical Engineering Grad Student and Staff Writer for the MLS department at Last Word on Sports. When he’s not playing with fire, he’s going for a run, trying a microbrewery, or watching sports. His first sports love was the LA Kings, though MLS didn’t exist at the time. Once called the Shakespeare of the department, he describes himself as a typical tuba playing Ginger Ninja, Environmental Crusader, Sports Hipster, and Miami Hurricane. Like the Galaxy, he too was handcrafted in LA

Gary Vaughan: is a native of North Texas. He is also a graduate of the University of North Texas with aspirations of a higher level of education. Like a majority of Texans, football is his sports passion. Ironically, his passion for the game sparked from his love of Madden 98. From that point on he has poured hours into studying NFL history and game film. Gary is a student of the game and is a die hard Dallas Cowboys fan. His second sport is hockey, followed up by the rest of the American sports scene.
