UFC Fight Night 64 results

UFC Fight Night 64 emanated live on UFC Fight Pass on Saturday afternoon from the Tauron Arena Krakow in Krakow, Poland. The event was headlined by a heavyweight rematch between Brazilian grappling ace Gabriel Gonzaga and former PRIDE and K-1 Grand Prix winner Mirko “Cro Cop” Filipovic. Below are the UFC Fight Night 64 results:

Mirko Cro Cop def. Gabriel Gonzaga via TKO – elbows and punches (Round 3, 3:30)
Nearly eight years after their first meeting, Mirko Cro Cop avenged his loss to Gabriel Gonzaga in the main event of UFC Fight Night 64. The first two rounds were all Gonzaga, with the Brazilian landing a takedown in each round and controlling Cro Cop in top position. In fact, at the end of the second round Gonzaga opened up a cut on the left eyebrow of Cro Cop. In round three however, Cro Cop would pay him back with an even bigger cut. Clinched along the cage, Cro Cop wobbled and dropped Gonzaga with two big left elbows. From there, Cro Cop entered Gonzaga’s guard and kept pouring on vicious, calculated elbows. One finally opened up a massive gash in Gonzaga’s forehead, and the Brazilian turtled up. From there, Cro Cop blasted away with hammerfists, and the finish quickly followed.

Jimi Manuwa def. Jan Blachowicz via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)
The first round was close, with Manuwa controlling the center of the cage, pushing forward with strikes, especially head kicks, and Blachowicz countering fairly effectively with a stiff jab. There was also some clinch work sprinkled in, with both men sparingly landing some strikes. Rounds two and three were not much different, with the Englishman pushing the pace, the Pole content to counter, and some inactive clinches strewn throughout. In the end, the judges sided with Manuwa’s pace pushing and control over Blachowicz’s counter striking.

Pawel Pawlak def. Sheldon Westcott via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 29-28)
In a grinding welterweight affair, hometown favorite Pawel Pawlak squeaked out a decision win over TUF Nations runner-up Sheldon Westcott. Round one saw Westcott control Pawlak along the cage with a body clinch, but neither man was able to generate much offense. Pawlak got some space in round two though, dropping Westcott early on with a knee to the body, and he also reversed a takedown later in the round and spent some time in top control. After defending the takedown for ten minutes, round three saw Pawlak score one of his own. From there, he landed some solid ground-and-pound. At the end of the fight, both fighters were exhausted, and the judges sided with the native Pole, giving Pawlak his first career UFC win.

Maryna Moroz def. Joanne Calderwood via submission – armbar (Round 1, 1:30)
A big upset opened up the main card when Maryna Moroz submitted heavy favorite Joanne Calderwood with a first round armbar. After Moroz took the center of the octagon and landed a few hard strikes on Calderwood, she threw up a flying armbar. Calderwood defended for a while when the fight hit the mat, but Moroz kept on it, and eventually her Scottish foe succumbed to the pain. Post-fight, Moroz exchanged words with UFC Women’s Strawweight Champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk, who was seated cage side.
