Iowa faces rival Green Bay in rematch for home opener
The Iowa Barnstormers will play their first regular season IFL home game as a franchise on Saturday, when they face the Green Bay Blizzard for the second time on the young season. Iowa enters with a 1-3 record including just a one point loss against Green Bay just three weeks ago.
In their last meeting, quarterback Robbie Nallenweg was an offensive machine, tossing seven touchdowns on the way to a 256 yard night. Three of those touchdowns went to 2014 NAIA All American, wide receiver Brady Roland.
The Barnstormers, however, will have to step up on defense to get the win, especially with Green Bay’s strike-on-the-goal-line offense. Both of Green Bay’s running backs had a short range touchdown during the March 22nd meeting between the teams.
As for Iowa on a seasonal aspect, the team continues to improve on the offensive side of the ball, improving their yards per game each time they step out onto the field. During the Barnstormers last game against Nebraska, Iowa gained 315 yards and put up a season high 50 points.
Keys to the game
Iowa will need to continue improving on offense, and take advantage of one of the weaker defenses in the IFL. They will again need to target red hot, Brady Roland, if they want to keep suit of the first meeting.
