League Two Preview: April 6

A full set of fixtures take place this Bank Holiday Monday, and there are some crackers that lay ahead. Two of the top three are in action, whilst the bottom two clubs are up against play-off hopefuls. Here is your League Two Preview.

Burton Albion vs Wycombe Wanderers

League leaders Burton let slip a last minute goal on Friday, leaving them with a point, whilst Wycombe lost at home to local rivals Oxford United. Both sides will be looking to bounce back with a win, with Shrewsbury hot on the Brewers’ heals, whilst Wycombe look to consolidate a top three finish.

Mansfield Town vs Shrewsbury Town

Second placed Shrewsbury will be looking to regain top spot with league leaders Burton facing a tough opposition. The Shrews are just one point behind Burton, and have won four games in succession, whilst Mansfield sit in 18th following three successive defeats.

Bury vs Morecambe

Bury sit just four points behind Wycombe who occupy the final automatic promotion position following four successive wins. They host Morecambe this bank holiday who are without a win in five games following two successive 1-1 draws.

Hartlepool United vs Southend United

Hartlepool have moved out of the relegation zone following four successive victories, and are now one point above the drop following Friday’s draw. Unbeaten in five, Hartlepool have had a massive morale boost, but face a Southend side who sit fifth.

Exeter City vs Newport County

Exeter have moved to within three points off the play-offs following an incredible comeback against Luton on Friday, and host Newport who remain in the play-offs following a draw. The Exiles are unbeaten in five games, whilst the Grecians are unbeaten in seven.

Portsmouth vs Plymouth Argyle

Portsmouth host the final play-off club in Plymouth this Monday, with the Pilgrims looking to remain in the top seven. Plymouth have had just one win in their last five games, with both of these teams drawing their previous game.

Cheltenham Town vs Stevenage

Bottom club Cheltenham have failed to win in seven games, and host a Stevenage side who sit two points off the play-offs despite not winning in five games. Both sides will be in search of a win for different reasons, with Gary Johnson’s Robins side hoping to avoid the drop.

Tranmere Rovers vs Luton Town

Luton have hit a real downfall and have now suffered seven straight defeats following their 3-2 defeat at home to Exeter on Friday. Tranmere meanwhile have drawn their last two games, and are one point from safety but occupy the final relegation place.

Northampton Town vs Cambridge United

Northampton will be looking to keep their play-off ambitions alive when they host a Cambridge side who have failed to win in seven games. Cobblers are four points off the play-offs, whilst the U’s find themselves just five points from the drop.

Dagenham and Redbridge vs A.F.C Wimbledon

Dagenham have suffered back-to-back defeats but host a Wimbledon side who have failed to win on the road in nine attempts. Both sides are looking likely to consolidate mid-table finish as we approach the final stages of the season.

Oxford United vs York City

Oxford seem certain to be safe from relegation following two successive victories, including Friday’s win at Wycombe. They host a York side who, despite two successive victories, including a 4-1 thrashing of Mansfield in their last away game, remain just five points clear of the drop.

Accrington Stanley vs Carlisle United

Both sides are close to the drop, but Carlisle are just two points clear following two games without a win. As for Stanley, they’ve failed to win in eight games.
