Fantasy Profile: Brandon Moss, OF, Cleveland Indians

LWOS Ranking 42, Captains’ Value: $9.19

For Brandon Moss, 2014 was a tale of two seasons: his All-Star level first half and his disastrous second half. Moss showed his great power in the first part of the season, hitting 21 HR with 66 RBI in just 364 PA. In the second half of the season, however, Moss was plagued by a hip injury and hit .173 with only 4 HR. Moss was on his way to a 35 HR season and fantasy stardom before he was hit by the infamous injury bug.

Moss had surgery to repair his torn labrum in the off-season, fixing what may have been the reason for his loss of power in the second half. Now 31 years old, Brandon Moss appears to be 100% healthy, as he hit .297 with 4 HR in 37 Spring Training AB. Also, moving from the A’s to the Indians in the offseason will help his power numbers. Progressive Field gave up the 11th most HR last year, which is a huge upgrade compared to the the 22nd ranked O.co Coliseum. Also, Moss will be batting behind Jason Kipnis, Michael Brantey, and Carlos Santana, providing him with great lineup protection.

Call me an optimist, but I expect Moss to hit 30 HR and drive in 90 RBI in 2015. His ADP of 158.5* makes him a great late round option for power. As long as he is healthy and his hip holds up for a full season, I see Moss having a career year in 2015.
