Two sets of fixtures take place this Easter weekend, with a full schedule on Friday and Monday. Here is your League Two Preview for Friday’s games:
Plymouth Argyle vs. Burton Albion
League leaders, Burton, look to extend their success holding top of the table when they travel to Plymouth. The Brewers are unbeaten in five games following Monday night’s draw against Stevenage, and have a ten-point lead above the sides in the play-offs. As for Plymouth, they’ve had just one win in their last four games, but still occupy a play-off position.
Shrewsbury Town vs. Dagenham and Redbridge
Dagenham lost last time out against Wycombe and will look to bounce back against second-placed Shrewsbury. The Shrews seemed to have picked up from their early March blip, and have won their last three games.
Wycombe Wanderers vs. Oxford United
Wycombe sit level on points with Shrewsbury and will look to keep the pressure on the front two when local rivals, Oxford United, visit Adams Park. The U’s will be spurred on after their victory over Carlisle last time out, but the Chairboys are unbeaten in seven following last week’s win at Dagenham.
Cambridge United vs. Bury
Cambridge are in danger of slipping into a relegation battle following a run of six games without a win, and host a Bury side who lead the play-offs. The Shakers’ game last weekend was called off due to a waterlogged pitch, so will be looking to regain momentum as we approach the final stages of the season.
Southend United vs. Mansfield Town
Southend’s fixture was called off last weekend at Bury, so like the Shakers, they’ll be looking to maintain some form as they occupy a play-off place. The Shrimpers are unbeaten in their last three games at Roots Hall. Their opponents, Mansfield, have lost three of their last four games in the league.
Newport County vs. Hartlepool United
Two sides that have hit form at the right time meet at Rodney Parade. Newport are unbeaten in four, form that has seen them move back into the play-offs, whilst Hartlepool’s run of four successive victories has lifted them out of the relegation zone for the first time since October.
Luton Town vs. Exeter City
Luton have suffered six straight defeats and have slipped out of the play-offs as a result. Their opponents, Exeter, are unbeaten in six and will certainly give the Hatters a battle as both sides strive for the play-offs.
Stevenage vs. Tranmere Rovers
Following the Boro’s draw against league leaders Burton on Monday, they find themselves just two points shy of the play-offs, but have failed to win in their last four games. Their opponents, Tranmere, have slipped into the drop zone following a poor run of form of just two wins in 11 games.
A.F.C Wimbledon vs. Northampton Town
Northampton will be looking to continue their play-off push when they travel to Wimbledon. The Cobblers won their first game in three last weekend against Luton, but face a Dons side that are unbeaten in their last six home games.
Carlisle United vs. Portsmouth
Following last week’s loss against Oxford, their first defeat in four, Carlisle are still perilously close to the drop. Pompey are the visitors to Brunton Park, but have failed to win on the road in three attempts.
Morecambe vs. Accrington Stanley
Accrington have failed to win in seven games, but travel to a Morecambe side who have lost their last four games at the Globe Arena. Accrington will be looking for the win, as they are eight points from safety.
York City vs. Cheltenham Town
Cheltenham are rock bottom in the table following a run of six games without a win, but will be looking to move out of the relegation zone in a week in which they’ve appointed Gary Johnson as their new manager. York won 4-1 on the road last time out, and will be cheered on by the result, as it was their first win in five. Both clubs, however, are in danger of relegation.
