Homegrown forward to join Swedish side for 2015 season
Washington, D.C. (Apr. 1, 2015) – D.C. United has announced that the club has finalized a one-year loan of Homegrown forward Michael Seaton to Örebro SK of the Swedish first division. Örebro finished fifth in the Allsvenskanliga in 2014 and begins its 2015 campaign on April 5.
“This is a good opportunity for Michael to have a different experience that will benefit his development,” said D.C. United General Manager Dave Kasper. “We wish him the best of luck this season in Sweden.”
Seaton, 18, has five career appearances (two starts) for the Black-and-Red. The D.C. United Academy product, who was born in Spanish Town, Jamaica, became United’s fifth Homegrown addition when he signed with the First Team on Jan. 14, 2013. He is also the first MLS player to be born after the league began play in 1996. Seaton had eight goals and one assist in 23 appearances (18 starts) on loan with the USL Richmond Kickers over the last two seasons.
Seaton also has 12 appearances and two goals for the Jamaica Men’s National Team since earning his first cap in November 2013 against Trinidad & Tobago.
