Saint Louis FC Match Day 1 Preview: Week 1 at Louisville
LAST TIME OUT: Saint Louis FC closed its preseason schedule by rallying for a 2-1 victory over Tulsa Roughnecks FC at ONEOK Field last Saturday. After Tulsa’s Adam Black opened the scoring late in the first half, Jermie Lynch came on as a second-half substitute and netted a pair of goals in the final 15 minutes of regulation to give the visitors the win. With the victory, Saint Louis FC finished preseason play with a 2-2-0 record.
THE OPPONENT: Like Saint Louis FC, Louisville City FC is an expansion club entering its first season in USL. Louisville was last in action on March 21, when they defeated NASL club Indy Eleven to finish preseason play with a 4-0-1 record. Louisville City FC is the USL affiliate of newly-promoted MLS side, Orlando City SC.
CLOSE QUARTERS: Louisville City FC is the nearest geographical opponent that Saint Louis FC will face in league play this season. Saturday’s match is the first of four meetings between Louisville City FC and Saint Louis FC during the 2015 USL regular season. The sides will face one another in back-to-back games on May 24 and May 30, before meeting in St. Louis for the regular season finale on September 19, 2015.
