The Texas A&M Aggies have agreed to a home and home series with PAC-12 South member Colorado. They’ll face the Colorado Buffaloes at Kyle Field on 19th September 2020 with the return fixture taking place on the 11th September 2021 at Folsom Field in Boulder. Although a clause in the contract does state the game in Colorado can be switched to Sports Authority Field in Denver, home of the Broncos.
Texas A&M schedule home and home series with Colorado
From 2016, SEC teams will be obliged to play one non-conference game against a team from the power 5 conferences so this agreement would fulfil that need in 2020 and 2021. The other long term deal currently in place for the Aggies is with Notre Dame in 2024 and 2025. The deal with Oregon for 2018 and 2019 was eventually cancelled as it clashed with the rivalry game against Arkansas that’s played annually at AT&T Stadium in Dallas.
The Buffaloes were highly successful in the 1990’s and early 2000’s as they perennially went to bowl games and won conference titles. They were even voted national champions in 1990 joint with Georgia Tech in a split title. But they haven’t been to a bowl game since the Independence Bowl in 2007, where they lost to Alabama, and last season they finished just 2-10 with wins over Massachusetts and Hawaii. They have just one win conference win in the last two seasons but many feel they are an improving team.
Despite the Buffaloes struggles in recent years, they actually lead the overall series between the teams 6-3 and they won the most recent matchup in 2009 by just a single point in Boulder. Both teams first ever game in the Big 12 in 1996 was against each other as well. With five years between the agreements being signed and the games being played its impossible to predict what position the two teams will be in on the field.
