COLUMBUS – Columbus Crew SC today announced that midfielder Wil Trapp has been named to U.S. Soccer’s Under-23 roster that is set to face Denmark in a friendly on March 31 in Copenhagen. The Crew SC midfielder is slated to depart following the Black & Gold’s March 28 Major League Soccer match against the New York Red Bulls, rejoining Crew SC after international duty.

The friendly for the United States U-23 squad comes ahead of CONCACAF qualification for the 2016 Summer Olympics in Rio di Janeiro. The qualification tournament is set to be held from October 1-13 in the United States.

On January 9, Trapp received his first-ever call-up to the United States National Team’s senior roster, participating in its annual January training camp. He earned his first senior roster cap for the Stars and Stripes on January 28 in a friendly at Chile, entering as a second-half substitute.

Trapp earned 15 caps as a member of the U.S. Under-20 National Team, helping the team qualify for the 2013 FIFA U-20 World Cup where he earned three caps in group play. He previously won U.S. Soccer’s 2013 Young Male Athlete of the Year award.

After the March 28 tilt against the Red Bulls at MAPFRE Stadium, Crew SC has an MLS bye weekend on April 4th-5th before a two-match road swing, traveling to face Vancouver (April 8) and New England (April 11).
