Fantasy Profile: Jose Bautista, OF, Toronto Blue Jays

LWOS Ranking 7, Captain’s Value: $15.94

Last year, Jose Bautista managed to stay healthy and play in 155 games. During this time, he rewarded fantasy owners to a .286 AVG, 35 HR, 103 RBI & 101 R. With Bautista, the one certainty is that he is going to provide power. Even in 2012 & 2013 where he missed significant time he hit 27 HR & 28 HR respectively.

The question is whether Bautista will repeat his production from last season? While this is not entirely impossible, it is also not the most likely scenario. In 2012-2013, Bautista missed a combined 114 games due to injury. Also, Bautista is going into his age-34 season indicating that a drop off in power (even if it is very minor) would be more likely than not.

Even with the mentioned weaknesses within Bautista’s fantasy value, he still has plenty to offer. Assuming he stays healthy, he can be penciled in for 30+ HR and an AVG of at least .270. Also, being a crucial part of what is an already strong Blue Jays starting lineup will help him provide very strong RBI & R totals.
