FANTASY PROFILE: RAJAI DAVIS, OF, DETROIT TIGERS
LWOS Ranking: 58, Captain’s Value: $11.64
Rajai Davis is drafted for one reason and one reason only – his speed and ability to steal bases. Davis is as good as the come on the base paths, running his way to six straight seasons of 34+ SB. Davis was very productive in his first season in Detroit, hitting .282 with 36 SB in 134 games. He also tied career highs in HR with 8 and RBI with 51. In addition, he scored 64 runs. In 2015, however, Davis will platoon with another speedy outfielder, Anthony Gose. Gose may get a little more playing time because he hits righties better, but Davis should play enough to contribute good fantasy numbers.
Currently, Davis has an ADP of 255.3 on fantasypros.com which makes him a great late round option in drafts. Instead of spending an early draft pick on Billy Hamilton or Dee Gordon, Davis can provide your team it’s much needed speed, just 15 rounds later. Davis, even with the decreased playing time, still should be able steal 30-40 bases and will help your team in the stolen base department.
