The Calgary Stampeders’ scouting staff and coaches remain hungry despite the position they hold at the top of the CFL food chain. This was made evident in the announcement of these seven Stamps signings, players who fill out an already competitive training camp roster for the 2014 Grey Cup Champions.
Head coach and general manager John Hufnagel announced the addition of seven international players to the roster. As per team policy, terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
The singings include:
OL Cory Brandon: The six-foot-seven, 325-lb. offensive lineman made one start at left tackle for the BC Lions in 2014. He played collegiately at Oklahoma and spent time in the NFL with Tampa Bay, Chicago, Arizona and Seattle.
DL Adrian Hamilton: After graduation from Prairie View A&M, the six-foot-three, 255-lb. Dallas native signed with the Dallas Cowboys. He saw action in two games with the Baltimore Ravens in 2012 and signed with the San Diego Chargers in 2014.
RB Timothy Flanders: The running back attended training camp with the New Orleans Saints in 2014. He is the all-time rushing leader for Sam Houston State and the Southland Conference with 5,664 yards and 66 touchdowns. He was a three-time finalist for the Walter Payton Award as the most outstanding offensive player in Division I Football Championship Subdivision.
DL Chris McAllister: McAllister played four seasons at Baylor and finished his career tied as the Bears’ all-time sack leader. He saw action as a linebacker during his freshman season before moving to defensive end. McAllister earned first-team all-Big 12 honours in 2013 and attended training camp with the Houston Texans in 2014.
