One of the Edmonton Eskimo’s depth quarterbacks, Pat White, retired today. The 44th pick overall in the 2009 NFL draft by Miami, White was also drafted in 1994 by the MLB’s Los Angeles Angels of Anahiem in ’94, Cincinnati Reds in ’08, and the New York Yankees in ’09.
The former WVU running QB, who was 5-0 in bowl games while in the NCAA, signed with the Esks March 27th of 2014 and didn’t quite make a full year. H e only threw nine passes (completing five, with one touchdown) for 54 yards, but he did well running with the ball, collecting 159 yards and four touchdowns in his only CFL season.
Mike Reilly, Matt Nichols, Jordan Lynch, and Matt Scott are the four current Eskimo QB’s under contract. Look for the Green and Gold to bring at least one more quarterback to CFL training camp which begins in June.
The Edmonton Eskimo Football Club announces the retirement of quarterback Pat White. White walks away after turning 29 this past February.
“Pat was a true professional during his time in Edmonton, on and off the field. We wish him much success in the future,” said a statement from Eskimos general manager Ed Hervey.
