It is officially March Madness. While most people will be struggling to put together a bracket, we are still continuing to grind out value plays. For Fantasy CBB players, this is the Super Bowl. Top sites offer their top prize pools of the season, which normally consist of survival tournaments along with other big prized games. With the full slate at our hands for Thursday, I want you to have the top plays in mind. I wish you all the best of luck on this slate along with all your brackets.
FANTASY NCAAB 3-19-15
Top High-Priced Plays
D’Vauntes Smith-Rivera – Guard Georgetown. Price 7900
At this price, Smith-Rivera makes for the top play of the day. With a dream match-up and pace, Smith-Rivera could have a strong game. Georgetown is projected to have almost eight points more than season average and rolling out Georgetown’s best player would not be a bad place to start your lineup construction. Expect a nice all around game from Smith-Rivera with a high floor as well as a high ceiling. Trawick is also not a bad option in this game, as points will come easy to Georgetown and Trawick can also provide good peripheral stats across the box score.
Georges Niang – Forward Iowa State. Price 8500
Call me a bit of a homer here, because I love Niang’s game for a big man, but this is a tremendous spot for him. Iowa State is many people’s dark horse to make a deep run in the dance, and Niang is the leader of this team. At forward, he is often found bringing the ball up the court and orchestrating the offense, especially in the recent Big 12 Tournament. The ball being in his hands more has led to five straight 30+ fantasy point games. Niang is another player with a high floor for his price and is more than capable of exceeding value. McKay is also in play here, but recently hasn’t been involved much on the offensive end. I expect McKay to play very well here as well, but if I have to play one of these guys, I’ll pay the bit extra for Niang.
Top Mid-Priced Plays
Shannon Scott – Guard Ohio State. Price 6600
With so many options, players like Scott may be missed by many. Russell gets all the attention on Ohio State, but Scott has put together a great string of four straight games, and has been playing huge minutes recently. Ohio State has recently been running Russell, Scott, and Thompson out there for huge minutes, and the rest is shared by the other 5-6 guys. You can argue for any of the three, but regardless I think you will need one of these guys. I personally do not want to pay for Russell, and Thompson is a bit hit and miss. That leaves Scott and with his peripheral capability and big minutes he will not disappoint.
Steve Moundou-Missi – Forward Harvard. Price 6700
Before researching this slate, I never would have thought that Moundou-Missi would be priced this low. While he is by no means the best player on Harvard and certainly has had better match-ups this season, this price is great. Large slates are all about seeking value and Moundou-Missi is the best rebounder and second option offensively for Harvard. Do not be afraid of a UNC blowout as Vegas sees this spread at about ten. The quick pace UNC plays at helps fantasy value of Harvard players, and despite the bad match-up Harvard is only projected about two points less than their season average.
Top Low-Priced Plays
Jordan Loveridge – Forward Utah. Price 5200
People will be scared off of Loveridge after his poor game which actually followed a ceiling game. While others may hop off this bandwagon today, here’s why you need to stay on. Stephen F. Austin plays extremely fast and this will play right into the fantasy hands of Utah players. Loveridge has been playing his most minutes of the season recently, and in his last five games he has taken no less than seven shots. Also, he did not score one point in his last game, and I expect him to come out aggressive and get that confidence back early in this game. I find it hard to roll out Wright at his price, and Poetl is far more risky for a higher price.
Bogdan Bliznyuk – Forward Eastern Washington. Price 4500
Bliznyuk is not a starter, but has been instant offense off the bench recently for EWU. He has played no less than 26 minutes in three of his last four, and the one he did not was due to foul trouble. Eastern Washington will need all the help it can get tomorrow against Georgetown and expect Bliznyuk to check in early and make his presence known. For minimum price, Bliznyuk will not hurt you and will enable you to pay up at other spots. EWU has flashy players including the NCAA leading scorer, but I will probably only be starting Bliznyuk.
