The Houston Texans quarterback situation may still be in question, but the team’s receiving corps has been further solidified.
On Monday, the Texans and former Jacksonville Jaguars wide receiver Cecil Shorts III agreed to a two-year, $6 million deal with $2.5 million in guaranteed money, according to Fox Sports Mike Garafolo and NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport. FOX Sports Ohio initially reported the signing.
Cecil Shorts gets $6 million over 2 years from the Texans. Stays in the AFC South. Gets to see is former team 2x per year.

Shorts, 27, was a fourth-round selection of the Jaguars in the 2011 NFL Draft. In 2012, Shorts achieved career highs in both receiving yards (979) and touchdowns (7). He put forth a career best in receptions with 66 the following campaign.
Having yet to play a full 16-game season, Shorts has yearly averages of 44 catches, 585.75 yards and 3 scores. Outside of durability issues, his lack of numbers are due to the constant flux of quarterbacks the Jaguars have endured. Shorts has caught passes from Blaine Gabbert, Chad Henne and Blake Bortles throughout his short career.
When on the field and healthy, he is a very productive player. Known for his precise route running and reliable hands, his playmaking ability will further assist up-and-coming star DeAndre Hopkins on the opposite side. Having Pro Bowl running back Arian Foster will alleviate the workload from both wideouts. If the Texans can get consistent play from the quarterback spot, they can indeed have a formidable offense.
