Morgan has spent his entire career with Tennessee, after being the team’s first round pick (16th overall) in the 2010 NFL Draft out of Georgia Tech. Last season he racked up 63 tackles, 6.5 sacks, and two forced fumbles. The 26-year-old has 191 tackles and 23 sacks in his five season NFL career to date.
Orakpo played last season under the Washington Redskins Franchise Tag. He was limited by a torn pectoral muscle and played in just 7 games. His best season came in 2013 when he had 60 tackles, 10 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries, 1 interception and a return touchdown. The 28-year-old was the Redskins first round choice, thirteenth overall in the 2009 NFL Draft out of Texas. He has spent his entire career to date with the Redskins and is a three-time pro bowler (2009, 2010, 2013). Orakpo has 40 career NFL sacks.
The moves bolster the Titans defence as they attempt to make a run at Andrew Luck and the Indianapolis Colts in the AFC South. By retaining their best outside linebacker and adding a Pro Bowl caliber player at the position the team hopes to strengthen their pass rush, and give opposing quarterbacks a little bit more to think about when they come to Nashville.
