Having been cut by the New York Jets on Tuesday, Wide receiver Percy Harvin has signed on with the Buffalo Bills. The deal is reported to be a one year ‘prove it’ deal with former Jets head coach, Rex Ryan undoubtedly being behind the deal.  The deal is reportedly worth up to $6 million.

Percy Harvin Signs With Buffalo Bills

In cutting Harvin the New York Jets saved themselves, $10.5 Million and a 4th round pick, having originally traded with the Seattle Seahawks for the troubled wide out early last season, sending a 6th round pick to the west coast. It was obvious to many that Harvin had become surplus to requirements following New York’s trade with Chicago for Brandon Marshall Late last week.

While no one can deny Harvin’s talents as an open field runner, it is his personality that he is most recently remembered. Originally selected by the Minnesota Vikings 22nd overall in the 2009 draft, Harvin came with baggage. Testing positive for marijuana during the NFL Combine and a history of Migraine headaches he slipped in the draft. During his rookie season he was elected to the Pro-Bowl, was named first team All-Pro and was awarded the AP Rookie of the Year. In 2012 he was traded to the Seattle Seahawks following a very public bust up with coaching and management staff.

During his time at Seattle he helped the team win the Super Bowl but he also only played 6 regular season games in a season and a half with the team. He reportedly gave wide receiver and team mate Golden Tate a black eye during Super bowl week and less than 18 months after being traded for a bounty of a 1st, 3rd and 7th round picks was again traded to the Jets for what is now a 6th round pick.

This may very well be Harvin’s final chance at being a player in the NFL.
