All roads point to Dunn. Seriously though, with a short list of games to choose players from you go with what works, and just plug in the rest. We know that one of the highest scoring slates in the early action will be Providence and St. Johns. I know your stomach may not be able to handle it, but rolling out Pointer and Dunn is advised. Just plug in the rest with whatever makes you not throw up. Here’s who I like for the early games.
FANTASY CBB 3-12-15 EARLY
Top High Priced Plays
Sir’Dominic Pointer – Forward St. Johns. Price 10100
I actually like Pointer more today than Dunn. This is not because Dunn is not a good play as he is a great play as well. I like Pointer more because I feel both have similar upside and Pointer will be less owned. There are more forward options to choose from and I expect people to gravitate towards Gathers for a cheaper price, but you should not be. Pointer is the engine for this team, and don’t let the previous tough road match-up push you away.
Kris Dunn -Guard Providence. Price 10300
Dunn sports a large tag today, but with lack of options in the middle of the pack he makes for a great play. Providence needs him to play well in order to win, and St. John’s has no guard capable of stopping him. Dunn sometimes starts slow, but today should not be one of those times and he’ll pokes holes all over the box score as usual.
Top Mid-Priced Plays.
Dorian Finney-Smith -Forward Florida. Price 7500
Finney-Smith has been playing real well since his brief suspension and draws a good match-up with the small front court of Alabama. The projected points in this game will scare off some, but Finney-Smith has a good match-up with just as good a price. His steal/block upside could easily have him eclipse value
Nnanna Egwu -Forward Illinois. Price 6200
Egwu gets to play once of the worst front courts in America today. Egwu is by no means a star and doesn’t score too often, but his block/steal upside in a game like this cannot go unwarranted. At 6200 needing about 24.5 points is certainly reachable. He should also get some easy rebounds and put backs under the rim to solidify his value.
Top Low-Priced Plays
Antonio Robinson -Guard East Carolina. Price 5200
If your playing top priced guys you will need to find some low priced value. That value can be found in the UCF/ECU game. Not a whole lot to love here, but when two bad teams play each other, something has to give. I believe Robinson has a good shot to eclipse value here at this price. The minutes are there, and his floor high pretty high for this price. He tends to do a bit of everything which is always good for fantasy, and if his shots fall he’ll easily run over 20.5 fantasy points.
Lester Medford -Guard Baylor. Price 4500
I am by no means in love with Medford here, but understand that if you’ll be playing top guys you need low priced options somewhere. Medford at minimum price has a shot to eclipse value in a fast paced game. He is really hit and miss, but a 4500 player can only hurt you so much. Medford has had one game in his last seven with less than 10 fantasy points. If you need a 4500 Guard Medford is the guy today.
