Coming off his best season, Murray has seen several honours bestowed upon him in the last year including the Pro-Bowl (two appearances), first team All Pro, the AP Offensive player of the year and joint rushing touchdown leader of 2014. This all on the back of being the leagues rushing leader with 1,845 yards on 392 carries, 13 touchdowns and very respectable 4.7 yards a carry.
Drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2011 in the 3rd round, Murray has gone from strength to strength and broke the Cowboys single season rushing record surpassing Hall of Fame Running back Emmitt Smiths 1,773 yards, along with most 100 yard games (12) this season.
While only 27, Murray has had several issues with injury throughout his four years in the league, missing 3 games after sustaining a broken ankle in 2011, 6 games in 2012 with a sprained foot and a further 2 games in 2013 with a sprained MLC. He also played several games with a broken hand in 2014 after having surgery after week 15’s game against the Chicago Bears.
This concern for his health along with the amount of carries Murray had this season has made many to speculate he may be on the horizon of declining in form. Murray also played behind one of the best offensive lines in the league this year and many commentators attribute his high production in part to this.
One potential issue is how this effects Ryan Mathews. Mathews agreed to terms with the Eagles yesterday but has not yet signed the contract.
Ryan Mathews just left the Eagles facility about 5 minutes ago.
