FANTASY PROFILE: ADRIAN BELTRE, 3B, TEXAS RANGERS
LWOS Ranking: 2, Captain’s Value: $19.73
Adrian Beltre, despite his unusual swing and HR antics, is one of the best hitters in all of fantasy baseball. From 2010-2013, Beltre hit 28+ HR with 90+ RBI in each season, and was the only third basemen to accomplish this feat. Beltre had a “down year” in 2014, batting .324 with 19 HR and 77 RBI. Hitting in an underwhelming lineup that dealt with injuries to key players damaged his RBI totals greatly. However, in 2015, Prince Fielder will provide Beltre with much needed lineup protection, after he missed most of last season with a neck injury. Beltre’s RBI totals will increase with Fielder hitting in front of him. The Rangers 3B will be 35 this season, but he has shown that he is durable and can stay healthy for a full season. In fact, he has played at least 148 games in 5 of his last 6 seasons, so I wouldn’t be too worried about his health.
Adrian Beltre, assuming he stays healthy, should be in for another .300 AVG/30 HR/100 RBI season in 2015. Beltre will be drafted early in the 2nd round in drafts, but his bat makes him very much worth the high price. He’s not the flashiest player around or the sexiest fantasy pick, but he will be very productive for your fantasy team.
