Report: Bryan Bulaga stays in Green Bay

Offensive Tackle Bryan Bulaga has resigned for the Green Bay Packers

According to reports, Tackle Bryan Bulaga has resigned with the Green Bay Packers on Tuesday, the deal if for 5 years and averages $7 Million a year.

Following the resigning of Randle Cobb, it was unlikely the Packers could afford to keep the services of Offensive tackle Bryan Bulaga. The 25 year old was originally drafted by the Packers 23rd overall in the 2010 draft. Bulaga had a troubled rookie season which saw him graded as one of the worst tackles in the league and allowing 12 sacks, it is interesting to note that statistically he was quite poor but still managed to be named to the NFL Rookie team along with helping the Green Bay Packers win the Super Bowl that season.

2011 is arguably his best season statistically, grading out at +18.9 for the season by Pro-Football-Focus, he is competent in both run and pass protection. Where Bulaga falls down is his injury history, in 2012 he only played 9 games after sustaining a hip injury in November and was placed on injury reserve. During the following offseason he tore his ACL during a family scrimmage game and missed the entire 2013 season.

While his 2014 season started off rocky, by the time Green Bay’s bye week occurred he had recovered his 2011 form and finished the season as one of the top ten tackles in both run and pass defending.

Able to play both left and right tackle and with the market for Offensive Linemen at an all time low with available talent, taking a risk on his body staying healthy is the order of the day.
