FANTASY PROFILE: BROCK HOLT, 3B, BOSTON RED SOX
LWOS Ranking 35, Captain’s Value: -$9.16
Brock Holt was a very good waiver wire pickup for owners last season, stealing 12 bases to go along with 68 runs in just 106 games. Not to mention he was also eligible at 2B, 3B, and OF as a super-utility player. Holt’s fantasy value skyrocketed in June, when he batted .322 over 118 AB. Despite playing very well, the 26 year old was out of the lineup for most of the second half, tallying just 141 AB in August and September combined.
Holt had virtually no fantasy value at the end of 2014 and appears to have very little if any Fantasy value heading into 2015. Unless there is an injury to a Red Sox starter, he will not get enough playing time to be fantasy worthy. In the event he gets additional playing time, it is unlikely that he will repeat is .281 AVG from last year as his .349 BABIP was well above average.
There is also a chance Holt starts the year in the Minors. Brock Holt is worth stashing in AL only leagues, but should be left on the waiver wire in all other formats.
