A crucial cog in one of the league’s best secondaries is supposedly on his way elsewhere.
According to reports, cornerback Byron Maxwell is close to a deal that will see him leave the Seattle Seahawks to sign with the Philadelphia Eagles. Maxwell has been an integral part of Seattle’s famed “Legion of Boom” secondary that has been so crucial to their previous two Super Bowl runs.
Byron Maxwell has told his Seahawk teammates that he plans to sign with the Eagles on Tuesday.

Drafted in the sixth round of the 2011 NFL Draft, Maxwell’s play throughout the first four years of his career evokes a “chip on his shoulder” kind of attitude. Both him and Richard Sherman came into the league as overlooked late-round selections and have been out to prove the doubters wrong with their play on the field.
Maxwell has been especially good keeping the ball out of receivers hands via pass breakups.
A significant pay raise is undoubtedly coming Maxwell’s way considering he’s currently on a rookie contract that’s paying him sixth-round money. He made $673,363 this season and averaged $538,363 per season over the course of his four-year rookie deal which expired last season. We will likely be filled in as to the details of his new deal over the next few days.
