Frank Gore has been a workhorse for the San Fransisco 49ers for a decade. The 65th overall pick by the franchise in 2005, he does all the right things in the right way. He is strong, fast and he can move well laterally for his size. At 31 years old the 49ers were expected to part ways with the star Running Back for the future of the franchise.
Removing a typically slow rookie season and a season he missed 5 games due to injury, and Gore has some gaudy seasonal statistics. He has rushed over a thousand yards in his other 8 seasons including over 2000 yards from scrimmage in his sophomore year.
With the arrival of Jim Harbaugh as Head Coach and the shift in offensive attack lead by Quarterback Colin Kaepernick, Gore had all but disappeared form the teams passing game. He had continued his success as a rusher, though his stats have declined from his first 5 years and last season he posted a below average 1,106 yards rushing and only 111 yards receiving.
