FANTASY PROFILE: EVAN LONGORIA, 3B, TAMPA BAY RAYS
LWOS Ranking 5, Captain’s Value: $12.25
Evan Longoria’s health was at an all-best last season, as he played in all 162 of the Rays games. His offensive production, on the other hand, was at an all-time worst, hitting only .253 with 22 HR. Yes, these numbers are still good, but you should expect more from a perennial 2nd or 3rd round pick. Longoria’s power eluded him in 2014, posting career lows in Slugging Percentage, HR/FB ratio and Isolated Power. His 22 homers was only 5 more than he hit in 2012, even though he played in 88 less games in ’12. Can Longo regain his power and hit 30 HR again?
Evan Longoria has a very high floor, and is a lock to hit 20-25 HR with 85 RBI. This makes him worth your 4th or 5th round pick, because you know if he’s healthy he will produce. Longoria, provided he is injury free, should be in for another solid campaign in 2015.
