Today, February 25th has brought us some enlightening situations to keep an eye on for 2015. Let’s dive right into it.
Reggie Bush was released by the Detroit Lions. He originally found success in the fast passing attack employed by the Lions. As holes in the offensive line were attacked by defenses and the injuries for Bush piled up, it no longer made sense for the Lions to keep paying him the dollars he would have been owed to remain with the team.
A.J Hawk is in search of a different shade of greener pastures. After what has been reported as a failed physical, the Green Bay Packers have parted ways with the nine-year veteran. Hawk’s physicality is in question, though not in doubt at this point. He has been injured in the past but nothing seems to be a lasting concern. He can be a strong pickup for a team needing a veteran linebacker.
Mathias Kiwanuka and the New York Giants have parted ways. After starting only 11 games last season Kiwanuka posted the second worst statistical season of his career. At 32 he will need to take a pay cut to be added to a defensive line that needs veteran depth.
Peyton Hillis once again will be looking for work as the Giants have cut him as well. After one masterful season with the Browns as what seemed to be their only weapon, Hillis has faltered as a running back that fits any offensive scheme correctly. Hillis may be hired somewhere for depth and special teams talent.
Jacoby Jones will be trying out for another team next year. The Ravens terminated his contract today. He has been all but gone from the passing game last season. His special teams abilities will get him work somewhere else, though at quite a bit less than what he was making in Baltimore.
