Joey Logano wins the 2015 Daytona 500

Joey Logano took the checkered flag at the 2015 Daytona 500 after getting the hot start off the first attempt at a green-white-checkered finish. After Austin Dillon turned Jeff Gordon, the race ended under caution.

Gordon started on the pole for the race and lead the majority of the time. In his last Daytona 500, the four time champion lead the most laps

Sunday’s 500 was the first since 2000 in which there wasn’t a “Busch Brother.” Kyle was out for a broken leg and Kurt was of course suspended Friday evening. Matt Crafton drove the 18 car and Regan Smith substituted in the 41 car.

Although the crowd didn’t see a unique “big one” like they saw in the Truck and Xfinity Series races, they did see what is perhaps the longest three wide run the super speedway has ever seen. With 12 to go the pack enclosed and ran three wide for the lead, up until a caution with three laps to go.
