Matt Kenseth Wins Unlimited, Sparks Still Fly

The NASCAR Sprint Cup series got started off on Saturday Night with the Sprint Unlimited at Daytona International Speedway. Matt Kenseth got the win.

The NASCAR Sprint Cup series got started off on Saturday Night with the Sprint Unlimited at Daytona International Speedway.  The 75 lap event features 25 cars who won a pole and or race in the past two years or won the event before.  It’s a non-points race where the wi or won the event before.  It’s a non-points race where the winner grabs a purse of roughly $200,000.

The race is split up into two segments, a 25 lapper followed by a competition caution where teams can refuel and pit, and then a 50 lap segment to end it.  The first 23 laps ran green before Brad Keselowski got tapped by Kyle Larson and spun into the grass.

Later another big caution arose, damaging 14 cars.  All seemed well between drivers after the crash, being a non-points race, drivers were making friendly conversation on pit road.

Jimmie Johnson was included in the crash but didn’t seem too displeased.

More wrecks appeared throughout the night, and it appears that the fireworks started to fly.

It all came down to a restart with five laps to go, which saw Matt Kenseth bring home a win.

After the race, while Kenseth was getting ready to celebrate, Joey Logano and Kevin Harvick got into a verbal disagreement on pit road.  Logano had pushed Harvick into a turn in the closing laps.

It appears we’re in for an eventful 2015 Sprint Cup Season, and also an eventful speedweek at Daytona.
