WoO Sprints: Daryn Pittman wins Night 1 after Last Lap Pass

Daryn Pittman thrilled the croud in an opening night victory when the WoO Sprints took to Barberville, Florida’s Volusia Speedway Park.

Pittman made a last lap pass on the defending series champion, Donny Schatz to win in the first night of the DIRTcar Nationals.  The two battled to the end last season in the points race which ultimately went to the #15.

Dash winner, Greg Hodnett, finished 3^rd in the 25-lap A-Main. Behind him was Joey Saldana in the Motter Motorsports’ 71M, looking to get an early start in points finishing 4^th.

Rounding out the top five is a second Kasey Kahne Racing driver in Brad Sweet.  Sweet battled the eventual winner of Night 1 before falling behind.

The standings of course look identical to the results after the opener, aside from Kerry Madsen grabbing a bonus point for being the night’s overall top qualifier.

The Sprints take on Volusia twice more this weekend, ending their February early to make up for the UNOH All-Star Series.  However, don’t worry WoO fans, the series looks to a full slate in March.  We’ll have a full March Schedule in our next wrap-up article.
