Report: Paul Lambert sacked as Villa Manager

Paul Lambert sacked. Turmoil at Aston Villa is very much present as manager Paul Lambert’s difficult time in Birmingham has finally come to an end.

Tension was very much at its highest when even the local paper, the Birmingham Mail, called for the sacking of the 45-year-old Scot. The team found itself in the relegation zone after abysmal results over the course of months.

‘”Aston Villa is a proud and noble name in English football…. It is an historic club at the heart of our community, a founding father of the beautiful game… but this great club is now on its knees and the Holte End is hurting – and we can no longer stand by and watch that happen. Today the Birmingham Mail makes one simple, stark request to the Aston Villa board: sack the manager.”- Birmingham Mail article, Wednesday morning, calling for sacking of Paul Lambert.

Lambert’s side were much maligned for having a goal-less streak of over eleven hours of game time. After dropping three points in a massive match against fellow relegation strugglers, Hull City, the writing seemed to be on the wall for the Scotsman. Since Christmas, Aston Villa are winless in eight successive matches.

With teams such as Queens Park Rangers making managing changes, Leicester City putting Nigel Pearson under pressure, Aston Villa have moved swiftly to try and change the fortunes of the struggling club.

The team’s twitter broke the news early Wednesday evening on twitter:
