FANTASY PROFILE: DANIEL MURPHY, 2B, NEW YORK METS

LWOS Ranking 10, Captain’s Value: $12.32

When it comes to the Second Base position, Daniel Murphy is not the most exciting option. There are players that have more pure talent such as Anthony Rendon and Robinson Cano. There are also players that have higher upside such as Kolten Wong and Javier Baez.

However, sometimes boring can be a good thing and this is a principle that is applicable to Daniel Murphy. Over the last three seasons, he has hit between .286 and .291 and he has contributed double digit totals in Stolen Bases. He has also scored at least 75 runs each of the last two seasons. While there are factors such as modest power totals that limits his value (his 13 HR in 2013 is his career high), he looks on track to be a steady if not spectacular fantasy contributor in 2015.
