Main Event Radio moves to LWOS Radio Mondays at 8AM EST

Last week was the first dry run of Last Word on Sports newest partner, Main Event Radio, to the roster for the Last Word on Sports Radio department. The program will now officially air every Monday at 8AM EST at LWOS Radio.

On this week’s episode: Tony Stabile talks all the backstage news in the WWE and world of pro-wrestling. He dissects WWE’s decision to book Daniel Bryan versus Roman Reigns at WWE Fast Lane later in February and previews next Thursday’s epic NXT Takeover event: Rival!

MMA specialist Adam Caplan talks MMA news and what went down with Nick Diaz and Anderson Silva both failing drug tests around their huge bout last week at UFC 183.

What is Main Event Radio?

Main Event Radio airs every Sunday live from 1PM to 3PM, discussing not just professional wrestling but mixed martial arts as well. Main Event Radio began on February 1st, 2004 on CJLO (Concordia University) in 2004, initially online-only and then on 1690AM. MER was consistently one of the station’s most popular shows and won Talk Show of the Year on numerous occasions. Over the years, they had all the big names in the fight sports world, did live coverage from Wrestlemania’s in Florida and Texas, and in total there were less than 5 weeks without a new episode.

Radio veteran Ryan Rider (B.A. Communication Studies, Political Science) is the Host and Executive Producer of Main Event Radio. He brings passion and excitement to the airwaves. Ryan’s opinions are often controversial, yet respected. He is the centerpiece of the Main Event, the glue that holds everything together through thick and thin.

Over his broadcasting and communications career, Ryan has worked for CJAD, Virgin, CHOM, TSN, CJLO, CFCF-12, CFMB, and CINQ. He’s covered current events, entertainment, wrestling, MMA, hockey, football, soccer, NASCAR, and tennis. He promoted over 35 films for Paramount Pictures. Ryan regularly provides commentary for live wrestling & boxing broadcasts and DVDs.

A life-long wrestling fan and pop-culture junkie, Tony Stabile has always had his finger on the pulse of the world. He jumped into the Main Event back in January 2010 as an intern and worked his way up to Host. His interests apart from professional wrestling include fitness, cheese rolling, retro-gaming, sound production and hockey; in particular his beloved Montreal Canadiens.

Stabile brings a compelling vibe to combat sports discussion. He has an outspoken support for strong-style wrestling fuelled by a liking for Ring of Honor and Puroresu.

Having interviewed many wrestlers, athletes and politicians, The Stabilo’s talents bring more legitimacy to the legendary status of Main Event Radio. Two other members of the team include professional wrestler Mikey Maggiore and MMA Specialist Adam Caplan.

With the new partnership, the Last Word on Sports Wrestling department will also be making appearances in the very near future, bringing the insight and expertise you see each week in our articles directly to the Main Event airwaves.
