We are a day away from what is considered to be one of the greatest Super Bowl matchups in the history of the NFL. The New England Patriots and the Seattle Seahawks will play their hearts out in an attempt to take home the Lombardi Trophy and be crowned 2014-2015 NFL Champions. All the hype leading up to this game leaves every football fan wondering: Patriots or Seahawks? Brady or Wilson? Edelman or Sherman? Gronkowski or Chancellor?
Super Bowl XLIX Predictions Unleashed
Why the New England Patriots will win:
Head coach Bill Belichick has been at the heart of the New England Patriots organization since the year 2000. He has a career record of 232–118–0, and sports an extraordinary postseason record of 21-9. He has also won three Super Bowls with the New England Patriots, and has a chance to win his fourth tomorrow evening.
Tom Brady is arguably one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. His championship experience and personal accolades while playing in the National Football League is too extensive for this article, so i’ll just provide you with his vast amount of NFL records.
- 28 career playoff starts
- nine career NFL conference championship appearances
- six career NFL conference championship wins
- 12 career division titles
- 20 career playoff wins
- Most career postseason passing yards
- 49 career playoff passing touchdowns
- six Super Bowl appearances
To make a long story short, Brady completely blows Russell Wilson out of the water.
Julian Edelman will face off against Richard Sherman in Super Bowl XLIX, which is a close matchup to say the least. Edelman had 92 catches for 972 yards and four touchdowns in the regular season and has 17 receptions for 172 yards in the playoffs. If the Patriots want to avoid Richard Sherman’s wrath (which they most likely will) then they can always send Edleman to the opposite side of Sherman so that he doesn’t have to face one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. Although, if there is one player that will be able to give Richard Sherman a run for his money, it’s Julian Edleman.
Rob Gronkowski holds a few records of his own, including:
- First tight end to catch ten touchdowns in four seasons
- Most touchdown receptions by a tight end in one season
- Most receiving yards by a tight end in one season
Gronkowski has gone over and above the Patriots expectations this season, and was a driving force in their overall success. His 6’6″ frame towers over his Super Bowl opponent, Kam Chancellor, who stands at a height of 6’3″. When it comes down to career success and ability, Gronk will be a tough man to cover.
The New England Patriots are practically oozing with Super Bowl experience. Between 2001 and 2005, the Patriots became the second team in NFL history to win three Super Bowls in four years, and the eighth to win consecutive Super Bowls.
These three players were able to lead the Patriots to the post season and the AFC Championship, so winning the Lombardi Trophy with Belichick at the reins and Brady, Edleman, and Gronkowski leading the charge is a very realistic possibility for the AFC Champions.
